About the Artist

Sheila has attended Avery Hill Teacher training college from 1974 to 1977 with embroidery and design as her main subject. On leaving she took up a council-run non-vocational teaching post where she remained for 37 years. Now she teaches private classes and various local groups.

Jacqui studied fashion and design in the 1980`s then took a teaching qualification and has taught council run basic sewing and cookery classes for adults with learning difficulties and also some of her private groups.

Together they have travelled on textile holidays to 8 areas of India and also Bangladesh, Uzbekistan and Japan.

  • Day 1: DEPART UK

  • Day 2: ARRIVE KATHMANDU

    On arrival in Kathmandu: Having cleared immigration, collected your luggage and passed through customs, please make your way towards the exit of the terminal building where you will see a bank of people waiting. Amongst them will be Aahilya Holidays representative who will be waiting to greet you with a paging board with your name on.

    He will assist you with your transfer to your hotel and assist you with check in.

  • Day 3: KATHMANDU

    Breakfast is at your hotel.

    • After breakfast visit Paten City - Durbar Square, the sky piercing temple of Taleju and the statue of Yogendra Malla, Krishna Mandir, Hiranya Varna Mahabiar (the golden temple), and Mahabouddha with views of old carved wooden windows through the streets, curios shop and Bazaar. Visit and interact with experts- Carpet making place, Singing Bowl Making place, Metal work, Jewellery making place & Stone crafts
    • Dinner will be at your hotel

  • Day 4: KATHMANDU

    Breakfast is at your hotel.

    • After breakfast visit Bhaktapur and interact with experts - Handmade paper making place, Cotton textile making place, Thanka Painting, Pottery making place, Knitters, Traditional Mask and Juju Dhau (Yogurt) making place.
    • Dinner will be at your hotel

  • Day 5: KATHMANDU – CHITWAN

    Breakfast at the hotel.

    • After breakfast drive to Chitwan [160 Kms: 5 Hrs.]
    • In the afternoon, you will visit nearby Tharu Village, explore the lifestyle of these tribes who are known as the people that are not affected by Malaria and that’s the reason they have been able to sustain in this part of the world before Malaria was eradicated 1960’s.
    • In the evening, you will enjoy slide show. A slide show brings the huge variety of flora and fauna of the reserve to life.
    • Dinner will be at your hotel.

  • Day 6: CHITWAN

    Breakfast at the hotel.

    • Ride on a traditionally dug-out canoe will take you from the hotel to Kasara. The ride is on the Rapti River for approximately 5km. On this silent ride you will get an opportunity to view aquatic birds and see animals on the river banks. At the end of the ride, a visit will be made to the Gharial (Crocodile) Breeding Centre.
    • In the evening, you will witness Tharu Stick dance.
    • Dinner will be at your hotel.

  • Day 7: CHITWAN – BANDIPUR – POKHARA

    Breakfast at the hotel.

    • Drive to Pokhara [145 Kms: 4 Hrs.] Enroute visit Bandipur village.
    • Dinner will be at your hotel.
    • Stay overnight at your hotel.

  • Day 8: POKHARA

    Breakfast at the hotel.

    • After breakfast, full-day visit Pokhara city including Gorkha Museum, International Mountain Museum and Women’s Skills Development Centre and participate in half day Macramé workshop.
    • Dinner will be at your hotel.
    • Stay overnight at your hotel.
  • Day 9: POKHARA

    Breakfast at the hotel.

    • In the morning hike to World Peace Stupa [duration 4 Hrs.]
    • Late afternoon visit Phewa Lake and enjoy boat ride.
    • Rest of the day is at leisure.
    • Dinner will be at your hotel

    Dinner & Overnight stay at Hotel.

  • Day 10: POKHARA – KATHMANDU

    Breakfast is at your hotel.

    • Flight to Kathmandu.
    • Afternoon visit Kathmandu city and Swoyambhunath.
    • Dinner will be at your hotel

  • Day 11: KATHMANDU

    Breakfast at hotel.

    • After breakfast, visit Boudnath and visit Pashmina & nettle fiber making place.
    • Afternoon visit Basketry and wood carving work at Bunmati.
    • Enjoy an evening of traditional Nepalese culture as you taste various delicious local dishes and experience classical folk music and dances from all over Nepal.
    • Stay overnight at your hotel.

  • Day 12: DEPART KATHMANDU

    After breakfast, at an appropriate time you will be met by Aahilya Holidays representative who will assist you with your transfer to airport to board your onward flight.
