The traditions of Indian textile crafts are some of the oldest and most diverse in the world. They represent a unique and continuous aesthetic across thousands of years. This tour will take in textile and cultural highlights of the famous golden triangle region, allowing you to see artisans at work, provide you with the opportunity to participate in hands-on workshops and get a feel for real India. As well as travelling by private air conditioned coach.

On this tour, we will explore the textiles and crafts of Jaipur, known around the globe for its fine and superior work. Traditionally there have always been guilds – in the past, one’s caste decided the crafts and arts one could practice. Techniques and skills are passed down through families, fathers to sons, mothers to daughters or within communities or schools. Weather, geography and economic conditions also have a great effect on the types of textile art & technique unique to the region.

Famous textile products of Jaipur are bandhani, kurtas, safas, skirts, sarees and and array of colourful dress material. Products are known for their intricate patterns, prints and colourful designs. Bandhej, also known as tie and dye is an art form used to dye mainly silk and cotton textiles. The towns of Bagru and Sanganer are famous for exclusive hand block printing. Natural and organic dyes are used.

Zardozi work and hand embroidery are also a renowned in the area. Batik, Lehariya, Shikari, Ekdali, Mothra, Cheent techniques are also employed by artisans in the area.

On this tour we will experience a wide range of textile arts, see artisans at work and have the opportunity to participate in workshops. You will also experience a magical sunrise tour of the Taj Mahal

About the Artist

Tilly Rose is a British textile artist, designer and author of two best selling books, Stitched Memories and Daydream Journals.

She is renowned for her passion for story-telling, capturing everyday moments and memories through her love of traditional skills including slow stitching and textile art using a wide variety of vintage cloth & threads.

With over thirty five years of teaching varying abilities, specialising in Special Needs, Tilly loves encouraging everyone to 'have a go' and to celebrate their own style of creativity

Tilly has recently designed her own range of cloth and Indian wooden blocks inspired by her last visit to India in 2020 where she led a textile tour to Jaipur.

She will be exploring the traditional arts and heritage crafts of the Golden Triangle in this tour and encouraging everyone to capture their inspirations and memories in a journal throughout the tour.

  • Day 1: 12 Oct 2024 [SAT] DEPART UK

  • Day 2: 13 Oct 2024 [SUN] ARRIVE DELHI

    On arrival in Delhi: Having cleared immigration, collected your luggage and passed through customs, please make your way towards the exit of the terminal building where you will see a bank of people waiting. Amongst them will be Aahilya Holidays representative who will be waiting to greet you with a paging board with your name on

    He will assist you with your transfer to your hotel and assist you with check in.

    Standard check in time at all hotel is 1400 hrs.

    Lunch will be at local restaurant followed by visit to Craft Museum.

  • Day 3: 14 Oct 2024 [MON] DELHI

    Today, you will be taken to experience the sights and culture of Delhi city, starting with visit to Old Delhi covering Jama Masjid, one of Asia’s largest mosques. Later visit Chandni Chowk, Asia's largest wholesale market, a massive area packed with shops, bazaars and people. Drive past the Red Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, built by the Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan in 17th century.

    Proceed towards New Delhi, which reflects the legacy the British left behind. You will then take to drive past India Gate, the Parliament House, the Secretariat buildings and the President House. Later sightseeing tour of Dilli Haat.

    Dinner & Overnight stay at Hotel.

  • Day 4: 15 Oct 2024 [TUE] DELHI

    Morning breakfast at your hotel.

    After breakfast visit Sankriti Museum.

    Later visit to Aahilya Creations residence and participate in Block printing workshop. It is a perfect place to buy wooden printing blocks and cotton fabric.

    Lunch & Tea will be served at their residence.

    Rest of the day is at leisure to enjoy independent activities.

  • Day 5: 16 Oct 2024 [WED] DELHI TO AGRA

    Early morning drive to Agra and enjoy packed lunch on the way to Agra

    Arrive Agra and you will be met with the Aahilya Holidays Personnel who will assist you and take you for the sightseeing of Agra Fort.

    Lunch will be arranged at the local restaurant.

    Later your will be taken to experience the marble inlay craft and after your visit you will be check in to your hotel. (Check in time is 1400 Hrs)

  • Day 6: 17 Oct 2024 [THU] AGRA TO JAIPUR

    Early morning today, you will be taken for the sunrise tour of Taj Mahal. Return back to your Hotel for breakfast. Check out from the hotel and drive to Jaipur en-route visiting Fatehpur Sikri and Abhaneri stepwells.

  • Day 7: 18 Oct 2024 [FRI] JAIPUR

    After breakfast at hotel, proceed for the Jaipur Sightseeing tour covering Amber Fort with a Jeep ride, You will also visit the Anokhi Museum and will Drive Past Hawa Mahal, Visit Anokhi Museum and later ''Explore mount road and visit the Satguru store, there you have an option to customize your clothing''.

    Rest of the day at leisure to enjoy independent activities.

    Dinner & Overnight stay at Hotel.

  • Day 8: 19 Oct 2024 [SAT] JAIPUR

    After breakfast at hotel, excursion to Sanganer [approx. 45 mins] and participate in a block printing workshop with the artists or block printers to learn the traditional technique of block prints. Also visit Handmade paper factory and visit a place where blue pottery is made.

    Now drive back to Jaipur & visit Birla Temple and rest of the day will be at leisure.

  • Day 9: 20 Oct 2024 [SUN] JAIPUR

    After breakfast at hotel, excursion to Bagru [approx.01 hr drive] and participate in Bagru and Dabu block printing workshop.

    Also see the process of Indigo dyeing.

    Light snacks will be provided during workshop.

    Now drive back to Jaipur &come back to Hotel., An evening visit to the home of an Indian family to learn some traditional Indian & Rajasthani recipes. After cooking class, you will enjoy hot & freshly cooked dinner with the family

  • Day 10: 21 Oct 2024 [MON] JAIPUR

    After breakfast, you will be taken to visit the Jaipur city palace and drive past Jantar Mantar. Later you will be taken to Maniaron ki gali to witness the making of Lac bangles and stroll at Bapu bazaar.

    Dinner & Overnight stay at Hotel.

  • Day 11: 22 Oct 2024 [TUE] JAIPUR

    Breakfast at hotel.

    After breakfast, you will be taken for the Puppet Making workshop for approx. 02 hrs

    Followed by visit to narrow streets of Old market (approx. 400-500 meters of walking) to experience the Aari-Tari workshop and learn how the fine threads of silver are woven into saris. (Workshop will be for approx. 01 - 02 Hrs)

    Rest of the day is free to explore on your own, Dinner & Overnight stay at Hotel.

  • Day 12: 23 Oct 2024 [WED] JAIPUR

    Breakfast at hotel.

    Leisure morning at the hotel and later drive to Dera Amer to spend time with the elephants followed by Lunch

    Rest of the day is at leisure to enjoy independent activities.

  • Day 13: 24 Oct 2024 [THU] JAIPUR TO DELHI

    Breakfast at your hotel and then drive back to Delhi (approx.5-6 hours’ drive), on arrival check-in at hotel.

  • Day 14: 25 Oct 2024 [FRI] DEPART DELHI

    After breakfast, at an appropriate time you will be met by Aahilya Holidays representative who will assist you with your transfer to Delhi airport to board flight to London.
